Excel invoice templates are superior to Word templates. They can do more. If your business is advancing to need some dynamic invoice power, the Excel way is the right way. They can calculate on the fly instead of needing a separate calculator to do it for you. We have quite a few cheap and free Excel invoice examples, but if they aren’t enough, there are many more blank invoice examples, templates and forms on the web.

Word blank templates can be okay for small business who have low volume. But if you are part of a large business that does large volumes, especially differing large volumes, invoices can be a pain in the pencil. Luckily, with a quick look online, there are some attractive Excel invoice samples that may please your customers and yourself. Excel uses something Microsoft calls cells. It is totally unrelated to your smartphone or mobile device. The cells are the square spaces in the form that accept information. This information can interoperate with other cells on the page to create a dynamic invoice for business owners.

The fact that Excel invoice templates can be reused over and over is a good reason to try one of the blank examples. They can be customized without much problem. Putting your company’s logo in the form is a matter of getting just six steps right. Who cannot do that? Going to the menus in Excel, select the control toolbox. Right click on the image you want as your logo and select “properties”. Select the picture properties and click on the dots. Browse to the folder where the logo is located and select it. Close the properties window and click on the “Design Mode” button to exit.

Some Excel invoice templates will have more than one tax input. If that is a problem, there are web sites that have extra downloads for the program. Otherwise, look for a full featured template that has taxable status, prices, descriptions, quantities, amounts, total amount, tax and subtotals. Moving and merging cells is a feature of Excel and your template should reflect this feature. If you want to change things even more to fully customize your template you can do so. Font, borders, patterns, text alignment and number formats can all be changed. All you have to do is right click on a cell and choose the “format cells” option from the drop down menu and have at it.

After customizing your Excel invoice templates ( if you downloaded more than one ) you will be able to use them again and again. Ask your customers which ones are their favorites and work on making them better. You will be using them every day that you are making money, so it is a good idea to make them as good looking and useful as humanly possible. You will be surprised at all the options that are built into Excel. Microsoft put the possibility to turn text at an angle in the cells. You can install borders, patterns, and turn the direction of the text.

Once you get the hang of your Excel invoice templates you may want to try your hand at making your own. As you will hopefully find out, they are useful. You may find yourself doing it for other businesses as well. Recreating invoice templates can be fun with Excel and if you do it well enough, it may end up being a side job. Being a geek can have some monetary gain attached to it. Just ask Bill Gates.

We hope our Excel invoice examples will do the job for you!
